Every Day Is A Day At The Races When You're Mentally And Physically Ill:
September 28th to December 28th

Adrian Romeo
The Cube

Adrian Romeo's latest body of work uses humor and play to explore the human condition and her personal struggles with mental and physical health. Central to the exhibit is a wooden racetrack featuring five sculptural wind-up toys that symbolize her foes: depression, fatigue, chronic pain, insomnia, and self-doubt. Visitors are invited to race these toys while reflecting on the accompanying insight cards that delve into the challenges represented. Romeo also presents hand-sewn textile wall works resembling sporting event banners, which offer encouraging slogans that highlight shared struggles. Through bright colors and playful elements, her art contrasts with the darker themes of emotional and physical pain, encouraging open conversations and providing a lighthearted approach to difficult topics.andescent emotional truths that are somehow both deeply personal and wholly universal.

Tony Award–winning composer Jeanine Tesori’s powerful new opera Grounded premieres at the Metropolitan Opera, wrestling with often-overlooked issues created by 21st-century warmaking: the ethical conflicts created by the use of modern military technology and the psychological and emotional toll supposedly safe remote technology takes on our servicepersons. American tenor Ben Bliss costars as the Wyoming rancher Eric in a production by Michael Mayer that brings this story to life in a high-tech staging which presents a variety of perspectives on the action.
